whoa wtf i went to follow andrewartwork bc his stuff is fucking amazing and i feel so stupid for not following him before but like…his entire front page of posts are a bunch of girls who are angry at him for daring to say that he liked sheploo? i had to finally work my way down to the bottom of the posts and his original post was perfectly nice - they’re just yelling at him about the fact that like, apparently if a man dares to voice his opinion when there’s a discussion going on started by a woman, he’s “talking over her”. what the FUCK i’m p sure that really is a thing, cause i have seen it, and it has happened to me, but it’s always really patronizing and the guy is just trying to shut you up and remind you you’re wrong on the basis of being a silly woman. that is NOT at all what he did. at all. 

but my god no matter how many times he explained himself again they just would not. let. it. go. so is this the sorry state of things on tumblr now? is THIS now an actual thing? can women just yell at a guy if he talks bc how dare he speak on tumblr when the WOMEN were talking? WHAT THE FUCK ISNT THAT STUPIDLY IRONIC??? 

ii was just talking with solyennee about the fact that tumblr seems to be so DEAD lately, there’s barely any posts and such, which is weird since this is summer vacation for most of tumblr’s target audience, and it’s usually the busiest season. we wondered how much of this toxic sjw bullshit has stopped just being something we all bitch about, and started to become something that’s actually driving people away from the site. i wouldn’t be surprised at all. 

of all the dumb shit this is definitely my absolute favorite part of tumblr too :[

So about a month ago I discovered this Hindu sect called the Aghori which is a group of mostly ascetics whose primary god is Shiva (the god of destruction, for the uninitiated) who believe that every existing thing is sacred, including such things as corpses, rotting flesh, feces, urine, and any other repulsive thing you could come up with. In fact, they frequently consume any of these things, spend regular time in crematories, and each monk carries a human skull with him from which he eats. Nothing is profane to an Aghori. I’m not a religious person but I find their beliefs incredibly inspiring in some way, though admittedly I have a fascination with death, gore, and macabre. I don’t think that’s the only reason though, I feel something less shallow than that the more I read about them. Something about them gets my art gears super pumped.

On an only vaguely tangentially related note I also got a copy of Ayami Kojima’s art book in the mail a week or two ago and I feel hella inspired right now; Ayami Kojima is an artist that I’ve noticed a lot of people love to hate because she’s like, she draws really incredibly idealized plastic-ish faces….. which I think barely scratches the surface of her work!!! I mean everyone is familiar with her Castlevania lineup but after I saw those when I was younger I had to find everything else, her technique was incredible to me, from a technical perspective alone. All of her work is non-digital and the way she layered textures I thought was incredible and I had to know how she did it. The more I found her art the more incredible I realized she was, and the flawless idealized beauty that people criticized about her work was not what it seemed to be; she has an incredible way of combining this ethereal elegance with horribly grotesque elements but you don’t even notice them at first.. you are just captivated by this beautiful face and then start to notice these details that are really scary, like

this second image I’ve uploaded, was the first one that just really made me fall in love completely with her art. I thought at first it was actually kind of boring, like some weird guy wrapped in bandages and roses and wtf even is that and then hes holding a mirror with a skull in it oh it means hes dead thats kind of ~deep~ or something I guess?? whats that line around his face oh its like his face is a mask wait are those MAGGOTS FALLING OUT FROM BEHIND HIS FACE HOLY SHIT (MAYBE I’m just really slow lol) and from then I just started pouring through all of her work and finding stuff like this and it was just more and more incredible and she’s one of my absolute favorite artists, just the juxtaposition of beauty to horror ugh UGH UGHHHHHHH ITS SO GOOD.

I DON’T KNOW where I was going with this anyway!!!!!! was just musing a bit. gore is really cool, the end~~
